Neural Networks are a machine learning framework that attempts to mimic the learning pattern of natural biological neural networks: you can think of them as a crude approximation of what we assume the human mind is doing when it is learning.
Biological neural networks have interconnected neurons with dendrites that receive inputs, then based on these inputs they produce an output signal through an axon to another neuron. We will try to mimic this process through the use of Artificial Neural Networks ANNwhich we will just refer to as neural networks from now on.
Feedforward neural network
Neural networks are the foundation of deep learning, a subset of machine learning that is responsible for some of the most exciting technological advances today! The process of creating a neural network in Python begins with the most basic form, a single perceptron.
A perceptron has one or more inputs, a bias, an activation function, and a single output. The perceptron receives inputs, multiplies them by some weight, and then passes them into an activation function to produce an output.
There are many possible activation functions to choose from, such as the logistic function, a trigonometric function, a step function etc. Check out the diagram below for a visualization of a perceptron:. Once we have the output we can compare it to a known label and adjust the weights accordingly the weights usually start off with random initialization values.
We keep repeating this process until we have reached a maximum number of allowed iterations, or an acceptable error rate. To create a neural network, we simply begin to add layers of perceptrons together, creating a multi-layer perceptron model of a neural network. Each connection, like the synapses in a biological brain, can transmit a signal to other neurons. An artificial neuron that receives a signal then processes it and can signal neurons connected to it.
In ANN implementations, the "signal" at a connection is a real numberand the output of each neuron is computed by some non-linear function of the sum of its inputs. The connections are called edges. Neurons and edges typically have a weight that adjusts as learning proceeds.
The weight increases or decreases the strength of the signal at a connection. Neurons may have a threshold such that a signal is sent only if the aggregate signal crosses that threshold. Typically, neurons are aggregated into layers. Different layers may perform different transformations on their inputs.
Signals travel from the first layer the input layerto the last layer the output layerpossibly after traversing the layers multiple times. The original goal of the ANN approach was to solve problems in the same way that a human brain would. But over time, attention moved to performing specific tasks, leading to deviations from biology.

I successfully ran the simulation for feed-forwarding part, and now I want to use the backpropagation algorithm to update the weights and train the model. The question is, for each value of x1 and x2 there is a separate result 4 different combinations in total and under different input pairs, separate error distances the difference between the desired output and the actual result could be be computed and subsequently a different set of weight updates will eventually be achieved.
