Hello all i need some help i have a 02 ws6 with i was told the car was parked for about 2yrs now i just bought the car and the engine soon light went off so i took it to the steelership and they told me i need to replace the KNOCK SENSOR or i will have to replace the engine in a short time, was wonderinf if that is true do i need to have they replaced ASAP what do they do?
Is it bad i bought a car with low miles that has been sitting in someone Garage once i get though this problem will i have more because the car was sitting for a long time the owner did tell me that he did start it up and let it runthe engine does sound very strong ansd runs good but the light is still on i have found no over problem yet but only place 75 miles since i bought the car Thanks in advance for all your help.

Drilled and slotted rotors. Those extra warranties are a joke and they void very easilly. The knock sensor is located on the driverside front of the engine just under the header. I was told that there are two knock sensor that have to be replaced the stealerships wants to replace both of them and a gastket kit? The guy there told me you just earth the other ground wire to the block and use the 2 existing LS1 wires for the signals and the "ecu works it out" I reckon good luck on that one Does anyone know the real answer, and that is does either of these setups work with LS2 knock sensors. Another option is to use the V6 Ecotech knock sensors, as they screw directly into the existing threaded holes in the side of the block and use the single wire plug same as LS1.

Hope this helps. So you lightly tap in order to get a reading and to adjust the knock sensor parameters? I did the same swap, gen 3 knock sensors in the side of my ls3 block. I tried slowly turning up the sensitivity to get some kind of response, even if it were false, then backed it down a little.
Just a couple psi of boost. I relocated mine in my LS swap, but not to the standard positions, as they got in the way of the headers, mine ended up in a couple of retapped holes on each side close to the front of the block, but they seem to operate ok there, even without tweaking the tables. It detected knock on heavy throttle my car is a manual quite well, so so far I haven't changed the tables I have read different stories on this, with some people saying they worked fine, or needed only minimal adjustment, and others saying they didn't work at all Yes, sorry for the delay in replying.

I also found a sensor in the side of my block on the passenger side, but nothing is hooked up to it, it was abandoned a while ago for unknown reasons.
